Chain Talon, a bicycle chain retainer tool.

Bicycle chain breakdowns on the road or trail can be a major problem. It is difficult to use a chain tool without experiencing frustration in the process of performing the repairs and reattaching the parts. The CHAIN TALON® bicycle chain retainer tool solves the problem of holding the chain secure during repairs -- acting as if you had a "Buddy", with an extra pair of hands, to help you hold the chain.

CHAIN TALON® can be used in conjunction with a chain tool to add or remove chain links. This is done by attaching it to the surrounding links. Leave about a one inch working space between CHAIN TALON® and the chain. CHAIN TALON® is designed to fit into the larger width links to assist in this process. (Reference above pictures)

In addition, CHAIN TALON® can be used to properly size a chain. This is done by varying the number of links between the prongs until the optimum length or derailleur position is obtained. Remove the extra links using a chain tool.

Who Needs Chain Talon®?

  • Anyone who owns a bicycle-- whether an avid cyclist or a novice. Use Chain Talon® any time you take apart or install a chain.
  • Anyone who rides a bicycle for performance or pleasure. Bicycle chain breakdowns on the road or trail can create a very real need. It's difficult to hold on to a broken or separated chain and attach the chain tool at the same time.
  • Anyone who would rather spend more time riding than working on their bikes. -- hot, cold, muddy, wet or late -- don't waste time!
  • Anyone replacing an old chain with a new chain or adding or removing links. Use Chain Talon® to make those difficult tasks easier.
